Five Things Friday

The five little things that made my week…

Joshua tree

1. Starting the week with a little desert escape… the perfect backdrop for focusing on some long-overdue writing and reading.

Pomegranates

2. Coming home to beautiful pomegranates on my tree.

Cluster of mandarins

3. Mandarins! This will be the first winter we have mandarins on our tree.

Newly seeded bed

4. Seeding a new bed for fall with Chinese kale, dinosaur kale, collards, komatsuna, and rapini… or the “bitter bed,” as I call it.

Tomato hanging in for winter

5. Tightening the lines on my Florida weave trellis and discovering a little green tomato hanging on… along with several new blossoms! Let’s see how my tomato plants fare over winter.

Thanks for reading! I’ve heard it’s quite easy to winter-sow leafy greens up north…

The still images but also gives us plenty of natural emotions

So jealous that you can garden through the winter. Here in NJ (The Garden State of course!) we’re just about done. I’m planning on a large cold frame next year but that doesn’t really create much of a substitute. My hope would be to produce enough salad greens for the winter. At least my Meyer Lemons continue to produce inside!

    Thanks for a great blog…

Thanks for reading! I’ve heard it’s quite easy to winter-sow leafy greens up north, so maybe you could also give that a try.
