The pugs went to their first pumpkin patch this past weekend. They were, undoubtedly, the stars of the show.

Even the real star of the show, the master carver who was slicing and dicing up creepily realistic faces onto his pumpkins, was enamored with them.

Though seeing his sculptures made me almost give up and bow down, I decided to bring home my own pumpkin and try my hand at carving one. Can you believe I had never carved a pumpkin before? At least, not in my adult life. Yes, I know. I vaguely have childhood memories of pulling the guts out of a pumpkin and possibly even wielding a carving knife, but that seemed like many moons ago.

So though I’m a little (or a lot) rusty, this was my first attempt at a pug-o-lantern. I’m already thinking of ideas for next year’s design!
