Exciting news! If you’re a subscriber at Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, you may have received your pre-ordered copy of The Whole Seed Catalog a few weeks ago… but if not, you can find this special edition on your local newsstands now!

Look for The Whole Seed Catalog in the home and garden section… I found (nearly sold out) copies at Barnes & Noble, but it’s also in Whole Foods, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Tractor Supply Company, and most major garden centers, newsstands, and bookstores. If you can’t find one in your area, you can order it online.

The Whole Seed Catalog by Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds

The 350-plus page volume is part catalog, part magazine, and a totally separate publication from the regular free catalog that Baker Creek sends out every year. The Whole Seed Catalog is almost twice the size — a comprehensive book comprising thousands of seed varieties that Baker Creek carries, hundreds of images of fruits and vegetables I’ve never seen or heard of before (pure food porn to us garden geeks), as well as profiles of other gardeners and farmers, recipes, articles, and more.

I just received my copies over the weekend and spent a lovely, lazy Sunday poring over the pages. One of my favorite reads was a story on the Brooklyn Grange Farm, the largest rooftop farm in the world, right in the middle of Queens, New York.

You’ll find a two-page spread of me on pages 224 and 225 with a full-page image shot by my husband, Will Taylor, who also shot fellow Angeleno — and respected garden designer — Jimmy Williams on page 62.

The Whole Seed Catalog is available on newsstands through the end of winter, so pick up your copy soon! It’s an inspiring book to keep by your armchair for those cold wintry days when you’re stuck inside, dreaming about the start of spring!

  1. My copy arrived a couple weeks ago, and I was excited to see you in there. Congratulations! That time is awesome! It’s been two weeks and I’m still reading it. (Baker Creek’s catalog is the only one I actually read….cover to cover, too.)

  2. Congrats on the write up and thanks for the tip. I picked mine up today at Whole Foods. I’m ordering their catalog as well. Looking for new places to get interesting seeds from. Can’t wait. But it’ll be a while, looks like a rough winter 🙁

  3. How very cool!

I just got my seed catalog from them over the weekend. Mine is the free catalog they send out though. I’m getting excited to get my order in for seeds. I want to try some new things this year.

  4. I was debating whether or not to buy this publication or not. Their regular catalog was even more giant than usual and I also get The Heirloom Gardener (they had an article on the Brooklyn Grange/rooftop gardening a few magazines ago), but I may have to check it out at least once. Exciting that you are in there as well!
