My Spring Garden Plan

With over 70 seedlings repotted this week and more seeds going in the ground directly, it’s easy to get carried away in the garden as I just want to plant everything I can get my hands on. Any available pocket of space in the sun, any container sitting empty… I’ll fill it all up. Then I’ll look back and think, did I really need 10 kale plants to feed a family of 2? (At least my friends and neighbors were well-fed!)

That’s when a garden plan comes in handy. I can see what goes where, how many, and when to rotate. (I think I must have been a Virgo in a past life.)

This season I have space allocated for 12 tomato plants, 6 melons, 6 summer squashes, 4 zucchinis, 9 cucumbers, 10 bell peppers, 5 chile peppers, 2 eggplants, many many greens of all kinds, carrots, radishes, spring onions, leeks, a trellis full of beans, plus edible flowers and countless herbs (not to mention my perennials).

What are you planting this spring?
