The Backyard Fire Cookbook is coming May 14! Here's a look inside

Woohoo! It’s almost here! While we await the official release date of May 14…

The Backyard Fire Cookbook is available for preorder on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Book Depository (for non-USA readers — they offer free international shipping!), Books A Million, Indigo (for Canadian readers), or your local independent bookshop.

As the companion to my bestselling title The New Camp Cookbook, The Backyard Fire Cookbook brings your favorite outdoor cooking closer to home and right into your own backyard — or front yard, or courtyard, or wherever you can carve out a little space for a fire.

Like my previous book, this one was born out of my passion for fresh air, a crackling fire, and cold drinks and hot meals shared with family and friends.

Every summer, I look forward to long conversations and lazy days that start with the camaraderie at the grill, and end with the last embers flickering as plates are emptied and satisfied sighs circle ‘round.

These are not backyard blowouts or cook-off weekends where grilling is considered a special event. These are feasts that feel special in more subtle ways, from the immersive experience of playing with fire to the fresh, whole ingredients that go beyond a slab of meat thrown on the grill. This is food that’s cooked simply, imbued with the smoky, savory, intoxicating flavor of the outdoors.

When you have fire, it’s hard not to enjoy the meals that come off of it. After all, everything just tastes better outside.
