If you haven’t heard, Amazon Prime Day is happening this year on October 13 and 14, 2020. It’s a massive sale on Amazon (bigger than Black Friday) with over 100,000 items offered at discounted prices.
I’m a longtime Prime member (you have to be to get these deals) and I’ve been shopping Amazon Prime Day for years, scooping up all sorts of sales for things I’ve been saving up for. Nearly half my tool shed probably came from Prime Day!
(And if you know tools, you know all those “toys” add up quickly! Wait, did I just refer to home improvement tools as toys? I’m blaming new homeownership pride for that. 😉)
I recently learned it’s possible to find some of these extreme savings and rare deals in advance, and I’ve been checking Amazon the last couple weeks and adding things to my shopping cart that are too good to pass up. I’m sharing these finds with you as I think you might like to know about them too.
I’ll also update this page throughout Tuesday and Wednesday as new deals become available! So keep checking back.
How to shop the sale
To take advantage of Amazon Prime Day, you must be a Prime Member. You can sign up here for a free 30-day trial.
It’s a fantastic service — I use my Prime membership for free two-day shipping, Prime Wardrobe (a lifesaver for trying on kids’ clothes and kids’ shoes, especially, without trekking to the store with a baby and toddler in tow), Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Amazon Family (for diaper subscriptions).
Here are my favorite Amazon Prime Day picks for your yard and garden:
EGO Power+ Cordless Leaf Blower – I’m trying to be more “green” with the tools we use in the yard, and EGO has a whole line of powerful battery-charged tools (as powerful as gas, they claim) that all share the same batteries. Which is awesome ’cause we’re tired of sifting through a dozen different batteries and chargers in the garage!
EGO Power+ Foldable Shaft String Trimmer – Not just for weed whacking. I use a string trimmer to shred leaves for mulch in the fall, too.
EGO Power+ 10-Inch Pole Saw – Because trimming our willow tree branches with a manual pole saw is getting old.
Worx Landroid Robotic Lawn Mower – I have one of these and it’s made the chore of cutting grass so much easier in summer. Just set up a perimeter around your lawn and let the robomower do its thing!
EcoScraps for Organic Gardening Plant Food – This is a new-to-me line of organic soil amendments that I hope to try more of in the coming year. (I used their compost a couple years ago and had great results.)
Fiskars Big Grip Transplanter – This hand tool and I are inseparable in spring when I have dozens (sometimes hundreds!) of seedlings to transplant in the garden.
Fiskars Steel Pruning Shears – These are such an incredible deal that it’s worth buying more than one so you have a backup pair. It’s one of my gardening essentials!
Corona Extendable Heavy-Duty Bypass Limb and Branch Lopper – This is a very strong and sturdy lopper for pruning small branches. (The gel grip makes a big difference.)
Firewood Log Rack – It’s my first year with a wood stove in the house (in three years!) and I’m getting one of these to store logs right outside the back door.
LandWorks Heavy-Duty Utility Cart – If you’re a serious gardener, you gotta have at least one of these around for hauling plants, mulch, tools, everything through the yard.
SuperHandy Wood Chipper/Shredder/Mulcher – I need one of these to tackle all the fallen branches in my yard!
Back to the Roots Organic Mushroom Growing Kit – Homegrown mushrooms in 10 days! This little kit would make a great Christmas gift too.
Olson Deepak Yak Leather Gardening Gloves – I love the long cuffs and stylish palm-leaf pattern on these gloves.
Ozero Flex Grip Cowhide Leather Work Gloves – These versatile gloves are a must for yard work and general around-the-house work. My husband and I both wear them!
ThermoPro Digital Hygrometer and Indoor Thermometer – I use this to monitor humidity levels in the chicken coop in winter (to reduce the chances of frostbite). We’ve never needed supplemental heat in the coop, and it all comes down to making sure there’s adequate ventilation and low humidity in there.
Other deals I’m liking for 2020:
Shark IQ Robot Vacuum – Robotic vacuums have come a long way since the days of my first Roomba, that’s for sure. I just got the Shark and it’s a game changer at home! I can’t imagine cleaning the house without it now.
Fire HD 8 Kids’ Edition – This is my pick over an iPad for my daughter this Christmas. It comes with a kid-proof case and free two-year replacement guarantee!
Bamboo Mason Jar Lids with Stainless Steel Straws – I’m a sucker for mason jar accessories and love the idea of using one as a spill-proof drinking glass with a straw.
Hasegawa Step Ladder – I’ve always loved this minimalist ladder. It has a sleek and modern look (no industrial steel pattern or ugly plastic) and stands on its own when folded. Every home needs one!
Instant Pot Duo Crisp – I have the regular version of this pressure cooker, but the new 11-in-1 model with a built-in air fryer has me wanting to upgrade.
Silpat Premium Non-Stick Silicone Baking Mat – I’ve started using silicone mats instead of parchment sheets or foil in the oven, and I’m really liking the convenience.
Escali Kitchen Scale – This is the same scale I’ve relied on for writing three cookbooks. I use it more often than I ever thought I would for normal cooking, too.
